Fatwa No. ( 13725 )
Praise be to Allah alone, and may prayers and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. And after: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the President General from His Highness the Deputy Prince of the Riyadh Region, in his letter No. (1 \ 1 \ 16368) dated 6 \ 3 \ 1411, which was referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, No. (1019) on 10 \ 3 \ 1411 AH. His Highness asked a question included in his letter, the text of which is: Attached is a letter from the Director of the Riyadh Riyadh Region Police, Industrial and Housing Department, No. (598 Sh 32) dated 15 \ 2 \ 1411 AH, regarding
the discovery by the Industrial and Housing Police of the body of a person of unknown identity inside one of the villas on the Khurayji Road. The forensic doctor stated that a period of time had passed since the death, and the Emirate issued approval to autopsy the body to determine the true causes of death. Since one of the investigation procedures is to attempt to identify the deceased by lifting fingerprints from the body's hands, this was not possible because a long time had passed since the death. The police stated that it is necessary to amputate the fingers of the body's hands and immerse them in a chemical solution designated for this purpose for a period, after which their fingerprints can be taken. Therefore, we hope that Your Eminence will refer this matter to the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta to issue a fatwa on this issue, which will serve as a precedent to follow in the future. And peace be upon you.
.

A: There is no harm in doing so to achieve the public interest. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
