Autopsy to determine the causes of death
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6619 )
Q 1: Indeedthere are cases of death whose causes are shrouded in scientific mystery, and the doctor needs to know the influencing cause, which necessitates taking a sample (obtaining it) via a thin needle from the body of the deceased. And the question is: To what extent is this permissible from a Shari'ah perspective? Knowing that the size of this needle is approximately the size of a regular needle, and it does not cause any
cracks or deformities in the body of the deceased?
A 1 : If there is a dire necessity or a pressing need to know the cause of death, and it is not possible to know the cause except by taking the sample in the manner described, then it is permissible in Sharia, preferring the stronger public benefit over the harm that befalls the deceased. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
