The mother if she has a contagious disease, how should one deal with her

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18731 )
Q: My mother is ill, and all the doctors who attend to her during her treatment consider that her treatment is not available in the specialized hospitals.
They advise transferring her to one of the government hospitals for treatment, because all this treatment is palliative and does not cure the disease. My mother is advanced in age, and she does not wish to enter the hospital. We are unable to convince her or force her, lest she be angry with us. However, this disease worsens each time. I spoke with my eldest brother to find a solution, but to no avail. He mentions that if she enters the hospital, we might be prevented from visiting her, and additionally, regarding the family's reputation, my mother has become a prey to this disease. My question: Is remaining silent about my mother's illness and leaving her without treatment that cures this disease a form of dutifulness to her, or what? Question: Do we bear no sin regarding our children, who live with her in the house, and we know that her disease is contagious? Question: Is it obligatory for us to isolate her from our children, as the doctors mentioned, or what?

A: We advise you to be dutiful to your mother and to strive to treat her as much as you are able, and to address her with kind words and a good manner. If she insists on abandoning treatment and not going to the hospital, and you are unable to bring the doctors to her, while you are earnest and doing your utmost, then there is no blame on you after that, if Allah wills. If the doctors determine that the disease is contagious, you should place her in a suitable place in the house where she does not mix with your children, due to the hadith:
It was narrated from 'Ubadah bin Samit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.”لا ضرر ولا ضرار
Sunan Ibn Majah 2340Da'if (Darussalam)
A good hadith narrated by Ibn Majah and others. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
