The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18369 )
Q2: Please, may Allah preserve you, explain to us the fiqh of the hadith: with regard to treating the patient by slaughtering for him , is
it prescribed or not prescribed; to lift the affliction from him? May Allah reward you abundantly.
A2: The mentioned hadith is not authentic, but there is no harm in giving charity on behalf of the patient as a means of drawing near to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and hoping that Allah will cure him thereby; due to the generality of the evidence indicating the virtue of charity, and that it extinguishes sin and averts a bad death. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
