Is weeping a sign of the acceptance of repentance

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14341 )
Q: I heard on one of the Islamic tapes from one of the shaykhs that it is obligatory for the Muslim to sit in a time of seclusion with his Lord and supplicate therein for repentance
And if the eyes weep and shed tears, it is known that Allah has accepted his repentance, and if he does not weep, then Allah has not accepted it from him. Is this correct? May Allah reward you with good.

A: Weeping out of awe of Allah, fear of Him, humility before Him (Glorified and Exalted is He), and submission to Him is among the characteristics of the sincere believers. Allah has praised those who weep out of fear of Him, saying:
And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truthوَإِذَا سَمِعُوا مَا أُنْـزِلَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ تَرَى أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا مِنَ الْحَقِّ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:83]
It is also established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There are two eyes that shall not be touched by the Fire: An eye that wept from the fear of Allah, and an eye that spent the night standing on guard in the cause of Allah.عينان لا تمسهما النار أبدا: عين بكت من خشية الله، وعين باتت تحرس في سبيل الله
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1639Hasan (Darussalam)
However, weeping is not a condition for the validity of repentance. Its conditions are abandoning the sin, feeling remorse, and resolving not to return to the disobedience. And if it was a right belonging to a human being, returning it to him.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
