The Shaykh : Now we return to our system after this note regarding the lesson from our book "al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib", having conditioned ourselves to select only authentic hadiths in every chapter.
We are now in the section on encouraging weeping out of fear of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). And in the fourth hadith, it is narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say
There are two eyes that shall not be touched by the Fire: An eye that wept from the fear of Allah, and an eye that spent the night standing on guard in the cause of Allah. عينان لا تمسُّهما النار عين بكت من خشية الله وعين باتت تحرس في سبيل الله
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1639Hasan (Darussalam)
Al-Tirmidhi narrated it and said: It is a good, strange hadith.
This hadith clearly indicates the virtue of a person weeping, not out of sadness, pity, or greed for wealth or the loss of something dear to him, but rather because his weeping is out of fear of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). This is because such fear indicates the strength of the faith of its owner. Otherwise, many people do not know weeping except in front of people. This is the weeping of the hypocrites who feign and force themselves to weep; they are not among those included in this hadith

An eye that wept from the fear of Allah عين بكت من خشية الله
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1639Hasan (Darussalam)
Like the previous hadith in the earlier lesson, which included
Seven whom Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) shades under His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His—and among them was mentioned—a man who remembered Allah in seclusion and his eyes overflowed سبعة يظلهم الله تبارك وتعالى تحت ظله ويوم لا ظل إلا ظله -وذكر منهم- ورجل ذكر الله خاليا ففاضت عيناه
being alone with no one present, until it is thought, or until he weeps by the suggestion of Satan to him, while he does not feel or perceive it, so that it is said, "So-and-so is one of those who weep out of fear of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He)." This illusion, or Satan's suggestion to a person to weep, is absolutely inconceivable when the weeper is alone with no one present. Therefore, among the seven whom Allah shades under His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His, was a man who remembered Allah in seclusion and his eyes overflowed. This weeping comes from the believer who fears Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He); otherwise, weeping is not conceivable except in a rare case where this weeping is joy. But as for the one who remembers Allah in seclusion, the general rule is that his weeping is out of fear of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), out of his fear of the punishment of his Lord. If we observe this virtue of this one who weeps out of fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in seclusion.
