The first question of Fatwa number ( 20783 )
Q 1: I heard the preacher on Friday say: "The servant knows that Allah has forgiven him." If that is true, how is that so?
A 1: The Muslim repents to Allah and hopes that He will accept his repentance and forgive his sins; for Allah the Exalted said:[Az-Zumar 39:53] However, one cannot be certain that Allah has forgiven him unless there is evidence from the Book and the Sunnah. We do not know any basis for this preacher's statement. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

A 1: The Muslim repents to Allah and hopes that He will accept his repentance and forgive his sins; for Allah the Exalted said:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
