Suing the one who falsely accuses someone of adultery

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13871 )
Q: I am submitting this letter to your Eminence to inquire about falsely accusing someone of adultery. I mean here that a Muslim accuses his Muslim brother by saying to him: “You are an adulterer,”
without any shame or restraint to stop him. Is the one who is accused entitled to sue him for this? I hope for a quick response from your Eminence, and may Allah reward you with good.

A: A Muslim falsely accusing his brother is not permissible, and it is one of the major sins. It is obligatory to repent from it and to seek forgiveness from the one who was accused. If he does not forgive, it is his right to demand his right from him according to the Shari'ah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
