Fatwa number ( 6130 )
Q: Indeeda woman forbade her husband, saying: (You are forbidden to me, like my son)and she has been regretting it since that time, but regret is of no avail. We ask you, may your excellence clarify this problem: is he forbidden to her, or is there an expiation for it?
A: If the situation is as described, her husband is not forbidden to her by this statement. She must seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him for forbidding what Allah has made lawful for her, and she must feed ten poor people, each poor person half a sa' of wheat or barley or the like of what is usually eaten, or clothe them. If she cannot find the means to do so, she must fast
three days; because her forbidding is in the position of an oath. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
