The Bid'ah Divorce: Does It Take Effect?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 6542 )
Q2: Does the bid'ah divorce take effect or not, and if it does, is it counted as one divorce or three?
A2: The bid'ah divorce has types, among which are: a man divorcing his wife during menstruation, post-natal bleeding, or during a period of purity in which he had intercourse with her. The correct view in this case is that it does not take effect. Another type is divorcing her three times; the correct view is that it is counted as a divorce and is considered one divorce, according to the correct opinion of the scholars, if the three were pronounced with a single phrase. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
