Divorce of a menstruating woman
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 9541 )
Q1: Zayd married a woman, and there was affection between them in that she loved him and he loved her. One day, he was informed that she said: You are
such and such, which was not the case with him, so he became extremely angry and wrote to her a single divorce, and she was menstruating. Then it became clear to him that she had not said what he was informed, and the informer did not intend anything but to separate him from his beloved. Does the divorce count against him?
A1: If the situation is as described, this divorce is not valid; because it occurred during menstruation, and because it was in extreme anger; and because the motive for it was a cause whose falsehood was revealed. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
