The obligatory maintenance of the deceased ends with his death

The third question of Fatwa No. ( 8442 )
Q 3: My father (may Allah have mercy on him) used to purchase household necessities and pay for electricity, telephone, and other household expenses. Now, we do not know what to do, as the heirs live in separate residences. Some live in the residence that the father built in the past and then gifted to his wives before his death. It is known that the residences my father gifted to his wives are considered by the people to be his own home, as he used to live in them. Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good, regarding the expenses of these residences and the heirs living in them. Are their expenses to be borne by all the heirs, or only by those living in them, or is each resident to be charged for their own expenses? It is known that none of them are in financial straits.
A 3 : The obligatory maintenance of the deceased ended with his death. It is the responsibility of each household to provide for themselves, or through their guardian if they are minors. If a dispute arises, it is to be referred to the Shari'ah court. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
