Seclusion with the Fiancée

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 18068 )
Q4: Is it permissible for the suitor to sit alone with his fiancée in her family's house, even if it is in a room with an open door or an open hall? Is it permissible for him to be alone with her in the presence of her mother, or to go out with her in the presence of her mother or her younger sister (10 years old)? Is it permissible for the suitor to hold his fiancée's hand, shake her hand, and shake her mother's hand? Please inform us; may Allah reward you.
Vol. 4: It is not permissible for a suitor to be alone with his fiancée as long as he has not contracted the marriage, nor to shake her hand, nor for her to go out with him; because she is a non-mahram to him. However, he may look at her when he intends to marry her, without being alone with her, but in the presence of her mother or father or someone else whose presence removes the seclusion; because of the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If one of you proposes to a woman, and if he is able to look at what would incline him to marry her, let him do so.إذا خطب أحدكم المرأة فإن استطاع أن ينظر منها إلى ما يدعوه إلى نكاحها فليفعل
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 6:1350
It was narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawud, Al-Hafith Ibn Hajar said: Its narrators are trustworthy, and Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man who married a woman:
Have you looked at her? He said: No. He said: Go and look at her.أنظرت إليها؟ قال: لا، قال: اذهب فانظر إليها
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 10:880
, and the meaning is: he intended to marry her.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
