The husband of a woman is a mahram to her mother

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 8630 )
Q3: A man contracted a marriage with a woman and gave her some money, but the woman passed away before he consummated the marriage. Is this man a mahram to the deceased woman’s mother, or is he a stranger to her? For example, is it permissible for her to uncover her face in his presence? Please issue a ruling, may Allah reward you.
A3: If the situation is as described, namely that a valid Islamic marriage contract was performed, then the deceased woman is the wife of the man who contracted the marriage with her; he inherits from her and becomes a mahram to her mother and her grandmothers by virtue of that contract alone, but not to her daughters. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
