Fatwa number ( 2284 )
Q: I am married to a man, and I have had children with him. This man has another wife who has not borne him any children. After a while, he divorced me, and his wife gave birth to children. Is it permissible for me to uncover myself in front of his children?
A: When a man marries a woman, her sons and her sons’ sons, however far down the line, become mahram to her, whether they were born before he married her, after he married her, or after he divorced her; for she is permanently forbidden to them. This is based on the saying of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He:
And do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred. Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful [to Allah] and was evil as a way.
[An-Nisa 4:22]
.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
