Q: The guardians of the female students studying in Dammam , which is about 300 kilometers from the city of al-Khafji , apply to obtain an agency to travel with them to the university in Dammam and return them to al-Khafji as a group. This is for a man along with his wife, daughter, sister, or one of his mahrams, and this is specified in the agency, for example: “I have appointed so-and-so and his daughter so-and-so… to travel with my daughter to Dammam and return her with her classmates…” What is your opinion if the travel of the woman or the female students is of this collective nature, and one of the mahrams of the car driver is with him? Also, what about the agency to pick up a maid from the airport and travel with her to her sponsor? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A: The aforementioned travel is not permissible; because it is without a mahram, and the agency
is not valid and does not benefit anything in that, and it is not permissible for a woman to travel without a mahram. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
