Boycoting one who marries immediately after the death of his wife

Fatwa number ( 20193 )
Q: In the area where we live, it is customary that if a woman dies, her husband does not marry a second wife until after six months or more. If you ask them why, they say it is out of respect for the wife. It happened that one of the people married a week after his wife’s death, and the people did not attend his wedding; they did not even greet him. Is it permissible in the Shari'ah to marry after the death of one’s wife, even if it is only one day later? Please inform us, and may Allah reward you with good.
A: This is a custom of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, with no basis in the pure Shari'ah. Therefore, one should advise one another to abandon it and not give it any consideration. It is not permissible to boycott one who marries immediately after the death of his wife, because this is boycotting without a legitimate Shari'ah right. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
