Fatwa No. ( 816 )
Q: A man married another man’s mother, then the mother passed away. After that, her husband married another woman and then divorced her. He asks whether it is permissible for him to marry this woman, whom his mother’s former husband had previously married?
A: It is permissible for a man to marry a woman whom his mother’s former husband had previously married and then divorced, provided there is no legal impediment preventing it, such as milk kinship or the like; because she is considered a stranger to him.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
