The second question of Fatwa No. ( 3773 )
Q2: Is this permissible in Islamic law: a man who married his daughter to a Muslim man and did not take any money from the man for the marriage for the sake of Allah?
A2: The principle is that the bridal gift is prescribed, and we do not know of any scriptural evidence that specifies its amount. The cases that occurred during the period of legislation indicate that it varied. It is reported in the Musnad of Ahmad and the Sunan of al-Tirmidhi , which he graded as authentic, that the bridal gift was set at two sandals. In the Musnad of Ahmad and the Sunan of Abu Dawud , it is stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the Sahih of al-Bukhari and Muslim and others, it is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): Mishkat al-Masabih 3210 It is also reported in the two Sahihs and others from Sahl ibn Sa'd It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim, and in a narration agreed upon by them Sahih al-Bukhari 5871 In another narration in the two Sahihs from the hadith of Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the suitor: Sunan an-Nasa'i 3359Sahih (Darussalam) From this, it is known that the bridal gift is obligatory in the marriage contract, even if it is small. This is what the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the marriage contract indicates: [An-Nisa 4:24] the verse. However, if nothing is specified in the marriage contract, it is valid, and the woman is entitled to the equivalent bridal gift, as stated in the authentic hadiths.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Anas said the Prophet saw the trace of yellow on ‘Abd ar-Rahman b. ‘Auf and asked what that was. He replied, “I have married a woman for a nawat * weight of gold.” He said, “God bless you! Hold a wedding- feast, even if only with a sheep.” *a weight of five dirhams. (Bukhari and Muslim.)
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was approached by a woman who said: O Messenger of Allah, I have offered myself to you. He stood up for a long time, then a man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, marry me to her if you have no need of her. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you have anything to give her as a bridal gift? He said: I have nothing but this cloak of mine. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you give her your cloak, you will sit without a cloak. Look for something. He said: I find nothing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Do you have any of the Qur'an with you? He said: Yes, such and such a surah and such and such a surah, naming the surahs. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: I have married you to her with what you have of the Qur'an
I marry her to you for the amount of Qur'an you know (by heart).
