The first question of Fatwa number ( 5844 )
Q1:I am a twenty-year-old woman who wears the niqab, and a young man proposed to me.His father passed away when he was three months old, and his maternal uncle took care of him from then on until he graduated from university. He is a young man of good character, and we consider him to be so, though we do not declare anyone pure before Allah. His only condition for the marriage to take place is that I appear before his uncle, because he considers him his father and fears angering him after having taken care of him for all these years. I tell you: I am afraid that if I accept him as my husband, I will anger Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in this
important matter, which is appearing before his maternal uncle without the niqab, wearing only the hijab. At the same time, I am also afraid that the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will be fulfilled in me, in which he said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1084Da'if (Darussalam). May Allah keep you. I want you to advise me: should I accept him or not, and what should I do?
A1: It is permissible for her to marry him, the condition is void, and the contract is valid, and she must adhere to what Allah has made obligatory regarding the hijab, unless her fiancé has been breastfed five times or more within the first two years by his maternal uncle’s wife or one of his daughters, in which case what is permissible for her from her maternal uncle is the same as what is permissible for her from her father by blood. We ask Allah to rectify hearts, to guide you both to the straight path, and to grant you righteous offspring. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

When someone whose religion and character you are pleased with proposes to (someone under the care) of one of you, then marry to him. If you do not do so, then there will be turmoil (Fitnah) in the land and abounding discord (Fasad).
