Fatwa number ( 13613 )
Q: I am a young man who wishes to marry a relative of mine, specifically my maternal uncle's daughter. I have two brothers who were breastfed by the woman who is my uncle's wife (the girl's mother) , and our family consists of 7 people, one of whom has passed away. The family I wish to marry into consists of 11 brothers. My mother breastfed 4 of these people, one of whom has passed away, and my uncle's wife, i.e., the girl's mother, breastfed 2 of my brothers. I inform you that the girl I wish to marry was not breastfed by my mother, nor by my uncle's wife, i.e., the girl's mother did not breastfeed me either. I also inform you that my mother's breastfeeding of my uncle's sons did not exceed two times, and my uncle's wife, i.e., the girl's mother, did not breastfeed the aforementioned brothers except for two feedings only. I ask for your fatwa. May Allah reward you with good.
A: If the matter is as you described, it is permissible for you to marry your maternal uncle’s daughter, and there is no effect on this marriage from your brothers being breastfed by your maternal uncle’s wife, nor from the girl’s brothers being breastfed by your mother.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
