Q5: Is a woman’s share of her husband’s residence after his death the same as her share of his other property that he left behind?
A5: Her share of his property is one-eighth if he left children, and one-quarter if he left no children. This applies equally to the residence, such as a house, and to the rest of his property. If she has another wife or wives with her, the one-eighth is divided between them or among them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
