Fatwa No. ( 11252 )
Q: We are a tribe in southern Saudi Arabia , and a darkness of ignorance had overshadowed some of us, leading them to dispute and frequent quarreling. They continued in this state to the point where some of them, who were full brothers, would not visit one another even on the days of the festivals. But by the grace of Allah, and then by the influence of their sons on them, encouraging them to love, reconcile, and do good, they responded to this and, by the praise of Allah, became as one hand, and their affairs are conducted by mutual consultation. After the clearing of hearts, the return of love, and the restoration of things to their proper course
they decided to hold a meeting in the house of one of them to discuss some matters of life. The meeting took place at the appointed time with the attendance of the majority, and they all agreed on the following: 1 - That the bridal gift shall be thirty thousand riyals for a virgin, and less than that for a non-virgin, and the wedding feast shall be provided according to need and shall not exceed four slaughtered animals. 2 - Cutting off the previous death customs where they slaughter at the time of calamity and feed everyone who comes and goes, and it shall no longer be the case except that the condolence period lasts only three days without slaughtering, and there is no harm in giving voluntary charity after the third day. 3 - They agreed to establish a cooperative fund in which every employee contributes fifty riyals per month. This fund is intended for many disasters, including if a car accident happens to one of this tribe or to a neutral person, and the accident results in deaths, God forbid, or fractures, the accident costs are paid from the fund. In case of insufficiency, the remainder is installment-paid by the tribe to settle it. However, if it is he who is the deceased or the injured, it is his own affair; if he wishes, he forgives, and if he wishes, he takes. Along with this, if a dispute arises between one member of the tribe and another, and blood is shed in it and valued in money, the fund pays that, this after efforts to extinguish the fire of discord.
As for a dispute between members of the tribe, there is only tolerance between the two parties. Among these matters is a fire accident; if it happens in one of their homes, the present one helps his brother with his own hands and is given a monetary amount from the fund balance to cover himself from exposure. And here, O honorable Shaykh, comes the question: What is your opinion on such matters? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with the best reward.

A: The items mentioned in the inquiry and agreed upon by the people of the tribe are valid. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
