Is the wife's consent required for plural marriage?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 2036 )
Q5: There is no doubt that Islam has permitted plural marriage, so is the husband required to seek the consent of his first wife before marrying a second?
A5: It is not obligatory for the husband, if he wishes to marry a second wife, to satisfy his first wife. However, among the noble qualities of character and good conduct is to make her feel at ease by alleviating the pain that is natural for women in such a matter. This is done through cheerfulness, pleasant interaction, and kind words, and by providing whatever financial means are available if her consent requires it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
