Fatwa number ( 1363 )
Q: Regarding what he mentioned about the agreement between him and his maternal uncle to marry his sister to his maternal cousin, where the mahr was specified for a period of three years, and after this year had passed, he asked his maternal uncle to marry him to his daughter with a separate mahr, and he asks whether this is considered shighar or similar to it.

A: If the matter is as stated in the question, and if there is no collusion or deception, and if the mahr of one of the two wives is not reduced at the expense of the other, then we see no harm in that, and the marriage in the form mentioned in the question is not considered shighar nor similar to it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
