Leaving off prayer and looking at women
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 6304 )
Q1: I am now seventeen years old. Satan keeps me away from prayer a great deal, a great deal. I wish so much that I would pray, and although I
in reality only pray on Friday in the mosque, and I like to stay there even after the prayer is finished. It is not that he constantly pushes me toward desires, looking at a non-mahram woman with lust, even though I know it is forbidden, even though I am now of pubescent age.
A1: Leaving off prayer is among the major sins of disbelief, and Friday prayer does not suffice for it; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam) . So you must hasten to repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) from that, and to maintain all the prayers in the mosque. As for looking at non-mahram women, it is forbidden, and it is obligatory to lower the gaze, and likewise seclusion with a non-mahram woman; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1341a . So we advise you to be cautious of looking at women, or secluding yourself with any of them, for in that is fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
