What are the supplications prescribed for the Day of 'Arafah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What are the supplications prescribed for the Day of 'Arafah? Please inform us of them, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : Among the supplications prescribed for the Day of 'Arafah is the remembrance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The best of supplication is the supplication of the Day of `Arafah. And the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Alone, without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him belongs the Praise, and He is powerful over all things. (Lā ilāha illallāh, waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa `alā kulli shai’in qadīr). خير الدعاء دعاء يوم عرفة، وخير ما قلت أنا والنبيون من قبلي: لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3585Da’if (Darussalam)
There are other supplications as well, which can be found in the books of hadith and by the scholars of jurisprudence.
However, the important thing is that when a person is making supplication and remembrance, his heart should be present, remembering his weakness and poverty before Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), and having a good opinion of Allah. For Allah the Exalted says:
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:186]
. It is also recommended that he face the qiblah during his supplication, even if the mountain is behind his back, and that he raise his hands. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he stood by the rocks and said:
1 have stayed here (near these rocks), and the whole of Arafat is a place for stay. وقفت هاهنا وعرفة كلها موقف
Sahih Muslim 1218c
. A person should not exhaust himself by going to the place where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood, given the intense heat, the long distance, and the difference in locations, as he may suffer from thirst and fatigue, or he may lose his place and thereby harm himself. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
All of 'Arafah is a standing place. عرفة كلها موقف
. It appears that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated by this statement that a person should stand in his own place if he experiences fatigue and hardship in going to the place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood.
