Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 4944 )
Q5: Is it permissible to take a fee for the semen of an animal?
A5: It is not permissible to take a fee for the semen of an animal, and the basis for this is: what
was narrated by Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the semen of the stallionنهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن عسب الفحل
, narrated by Ahmad and al-Bukhari and al-Nasa'i and Abu Dawud, and from Jabir:
Ibn ‘Umar said the Prophet forbade sellingأن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى عن بيع ضراب الفحل
Mishkat al-Masabih 2863
narrated by Muslim and al-Nasa'i, and what was narrated by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him):
that a man of Kilab asked the Prophet about hiring a stallion to cover a female and he forbade him; but when he said, "Messenger of God, we lend a stallion to cover a female and are given a present," he gave him licence to accept a present.أن رجلاً من كلاب سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن عسب الفحل، فنهاه، فقال: يا رسول الله: إننا نطرق الفحل فنكرم، فرخص له في الكرامة
Mishkat al-Masabih 2866
narrated by al-Tirmidhi and he said: a good, strange hadith, and the intended meaning of the stallion's semen: it is the semen of the animal, whether it be a camel or a horse or a goat or otherwise, and the basis for the prohibition is that it is forbidden, and his saying: (so he granted him a dispensation for the favor) indicates
that if the owner of the stallion receives a favor without a condition or agreement upon it, there is no blame on him.
