The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 16013 )
Q6: There are some banks that have Islamic branches, but the main bank
deals with riba (usury or interest). What is the ruling on dealing with this branch?
A6 : There is no harm in dealing with the bank or its branch if the transaction does not involve riba (usury or interest); because Allah the Exalted has made selling lawful and forbidden riba (usury or interest), and because the default ruling for transactions is permissibility, whether with a bank or otherwise, as long as the transaction does not contain anything forbidden.
