Cursing and insulting by the fasting person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 7825 )
Q1: In Ramadan, if a person becomes angry about something and, in his anger, he rebukes or insults, does that invalidate his fast or not?

A1: It does not invalidate his fast, but it diminishes its reward. So the Muslim should control himself and guard his tongue from cursing, insulting, backbiting, talebearing, and the like of what Allah has forbidden in fasting and otherwise. In fasting, the preservation of the perfection of the fast is more severe and emphatic, and one should stay away from what harms people and becomes a cause of trial, hatred, and division; for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When any one of you is fasting on a day, he should neither indulge in obscene language, nor raise the voice; or if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him he should say: I am a person fasting.فإذا كان يوم صوم أحدكم فلا يرفث يومئذ، ولا يسخب، فإن سابه أحد أو قاتله فليقل إني امرؤ صائم
Sahih Muslim 1151d
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
