Fatwa No. ( 13212 )
Praise be to Allah alone, and may blessings and peace be upon His servant and Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions. After that:
The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed the inquiry sent to His Eminence the General President from His Excellency the Director General of Education in the Riyadh Region, No. (2704 \ 11), dated 29 \ 8 \ 1410 AH, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, No. (5010), dated 2 \ 9 \ 1410 AH. The text of the inquiry reads: We wish to inform Your Eminence that, with the will of Allah, our school health units will conduct a campaign to vaccinate elementary and middle school students against meningitis , in preparation for this year's Hajj. This is based on the circular from the Deputy Minister of Education, No. (148 \ 32), dated 8 \ 8 \ 1410 AH, which is based on the circular from the Deputy Minister of Health, No. (1184 \ 19), dated 15 \ 7 \ 1410 AH. We hope Your Eminence will inform us of the possibility of carrying this out during the blessed month of Ramadan, and the effect of this vaccination on the students' fasting.
After the Committee studied the matter, it responded that there is no harm in doing so, and if it is facilitated to have the vaccination at night, that is more cautious. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
