Fatwa number ( 19017 )
Q: We are affiliated with one of the schools. We have allocated a place for prayer, which is the largest space in the school, but it is not sufficient for the students to pray in it. Is it permissible for us to divide the students into two groups, one group in this place and the other group on the second floor, for example, and have them pray with a separate imam or with one imam, especially given the presence of loudspeakers? May Allah guide you.
Allah, and peace be upon you, and may Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
A: It is obligatory for the students to pray as one congregation in all floors of the school, if they can hear the imam’s voice through the loudspeaker, and it is not permissible for them to divide into two or more congregations, because there is no need for that. - And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
