The passage of wadi from a fasting person
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11535 )
Q: I was fasting on the evening of one of the blessed nights of Ramadan. When I entered the washing area to perform wudu, and as the urination was finishing, I have a habit of straining myself at the end of urination to expel any remaining urine. When the urination was finished, I strained myself, and at that moment a fluid came out that resembled semen, but this fluid came out without the pleasure associated with semen. I did not break my fast until after the Maghrib adhan. Does the passage of this fluid affect my fast? Does this fluid require ghusl or not? And if I am required to make up that day, but I did not fast it until after the second Ramadan had passed, what is the ruling? May Allah reward you with good.
A: The passage of a thick, sticky fluid after urination without pleasure is not semen; rather, it is wadi. It does not invalidate the fast, nor does it require ghusl. The only obligation regarding it is istinja' (cleaning oneself) and wudu. As long as you did not break your fast and did not intend to break it before sunset, your fast is valid, and you do not have to make it up. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
