Lost Camels

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 5893 )
Q: I found a camel foal, and when I found it, it was approximately twenty days old. I took it to my farm and raised it, and I kept announcing it to people until everyone around me knew about it. Its food throughout this period was barley and alfalfa from my farm. It has now been with me for two years, and I have not found its owner, knowing that I am still announcing it. When I found it, I feared for it that it would die of hunger or be eaten by a wolf because it was small. Now I do not know what to do with it, and whether it is lawful for me or not? I hope you will inform me about this issue, and I am awaiting your fatwa.
A: If the matter is as you described, that the camel foal was too small to defend itself from predators and too small to reach water, then it is permissible for you to keep it with your camels. If its owner comes looking for it one day, hand it over to him.
