Q6: In which year of the Hijrah did Hajj begin, and what is the most authentic report?
A6: The scholars differed regarding the year in which Hajj was made obligatory. It was said to be in the fifth year, the sixth year, the ninth year, or the tenth year. The two latter opinions are closest to the truth, namely that it was made obligatory in the ninth and tenth years. And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
