Machine translationRead the Arabic original
As for the obligation of Hajj, it is established in the Book, the Sunnah, and the consensus of the Muslims, which is a definitive and necessary consensus.

In the Book: Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a wayوَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلاً
[Al-Imran: 97] And by "the Book" is meant the Qur'an.

And in the Sunnah: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has made Hajj obligatory upon you,A man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Is it every year?He said: If I had said: Yes,
it would have become obligatory and you would not have been able to do it. Hajj is once, and whatever is done beyond that is voluntary."

As for the consensus: For all the Muslims have agreed upon the obligation of Hajj.
