Voluntary Fasting Before Making Up an Obligatory Fast
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 2232 )
Q5: If a person has a fast to make up, and he fasts voluntarily before making up that obligatory fast, and then makes it up, is that sufficient?
A5: If a person fasts voluntarily before making up the obligatory fast he owes, and then makes up what he owes, his making it up is sufficient, but he should have
made up what he owed first, and then fasted voluntarily afterwards; because the obligatory is more important. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
