A7: It is not established, to our knowledge, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fasted the ten days of Dhul Hijjah, meaning: the nine days before the festival. However, he (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged righteous deeds in them. It is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sunan Abi Dawud 2438Sahih (Al-Albani) narrated by al-Bukhari . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

He said: (Yes), not even the struggle in the path of Allah, except a man who goes out (in the path of Allah) with his life and property, and does not return with any of them.
ما من أيام العمل الصالح فيها أحب إلى الله من هذه الأيام يعني: أيام العشر، قالوا: يا رسول الله، ولا الجهاد في سبيل الله؟ قال: ولا الجهاد في سبيل الله إلا رجل خرج بنفسه وماله فلم يرجع من ذلك بشيء
