Fasting the Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is there any report regarding fasting the ten days of Dhul Hijjah? If a person fasts from the first day to the last, is there any harm in that? And did any of the Salaf (the earliest generations) fast them?

Answer:
Yes, this is in the hadith of Asma. It was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded fasting them. They are the well-known ten days, as Allah says: “(And they should mention the name of Allah on well-known days),” and these are the days of the ten. Fasting them is a recommended practice (sunnah); fasting the ten days of Dhul Hijjah is a recommended practice (sunnah).
