Q: I am a manwho owns a video store for selling and renting Westernand Indian and Arab films, and all of these films contain scenes in which women appear unveiled, some of them nearly naked, as well as free mixing with men, and perhaps a man kissing a woman, and they also contain music, songs, and women dancing... in addition to films of violence and crime that are not free of such things. One day, one of the upright young men entered the store and told me that this work of mine is not permissible and is forbidden, and that by doing this I am destroying the religion and the creed, and that earning from it is forbidden. He said to me: You must get rid of this. Then he left. When I returned home, I decided to write to you, for you are the best of those I trust, and from my knowledge of all the people, you are the most learned of the imams in this age. Therefore, I ask you to issue a ruling for me quickly, for I am in constant anxiety. May Allah preserve you and protect you.
