Warning Against Evil and Lewd Films

Question:
Our brother mentions some of the effects of video and says: Many video films come from the West, and they are acted out by people who are disbelievers. They also depict what happens between a man and his wife, and they show images that are not fitting for us to mention in this context. He asks the Shaykh for guidance: Are people affected in their marital lives by what is in those films, or should they avoid it?

Answer:
It is obligatory to avoid it, and it is obligatory to be cautious of these evil films that depict naked women, or a man with his wife, or an adulterer with the woman he has committed adultery with, or mention sodomy and the sodomite with the one he has committed sodomy with, or the like of that. All these films are reprehensible, evil, and lewd. They must be fought, and they must not be allowed, and whoever brings them into the Islamic lands must be punished.
It is obligatory for the rulers in every Islamic country to fight these evil films through the police, through the supervision of books, through the supervision of films, through the media, through every means possible. It is obligatory for the rulers to fight them by every means so that they do not enter the lands, for they result in the corruption of the community and boldness in what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has forbidden .
So it is obligatory to be cautious of that and to prevent this evil current. We ask Allah for well-being.
