Copyright of the Tapes
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18845 ):
Q2: Is it permissible for me to record a tape from the tapes and sell it, but without seeking permission from its owner, or if its owner is not alive, from the specific house that records it? And is it permissible for me to photocopy a book from the books, gather a large number of them, and sell them? And is it also permissible for me to photocopy a book from the books but not sell it, rather keep it for myself? And these books that bear the mark “Copyright Reserved,” do I seek permission or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A2: There is no harm in recording beneficial tapes and selling them, and photocopying books and selling them; because of the assistance in spreading knowledge, unless their owners prevent that, in which case their permission is necessary.
