Fatwa No. ( 556 )
Q: What is required of a Muslim toward a man with a foul tongue, who speaks in forbidden words, including shirk-related statements and the like, who frequently pronounces divorce, seeks the aid of jinn, takes bribes, demolished a mosque and turned it into a house and then a stable for animals, claiming that he would build something better, and he did build another one, but it is not suitable for establishing prayer like the first one, and so on with other forbidden acts, and when he is advised, he does not accept it? So please inform us of what is required.
A: It is obligatory for the Muslim to enjoin good and forbid evil, and to advise every Muslim with wisdom, good admonition, and the best kind of argument. Allah the Exalted said:[Ali 'Imran 3:110] , and He the Exalted said: [Ali 'Imran 3:104-105] the verses, and He the Exalted said: [Al-Ma'idah 5:78-79]
And He the Exalted said:[An-Nahl 16:125], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan an-Nasa'i 4197Sahih (Darussalam), narrated by Muslim. And Jariyy ibn 'Abd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 57. It was narrated by al-Bukhariand Muslim, and giving sincere advice to Allah is: being sincere to Allah in word and deed, and obeying Him. Giving sincere advice to His Book is: being truthful in faith in it, and acting according to the rulings of the Shari'ah contained in it. Giving sincere advice to the Messenger is: believing in him and obeying him. Giving sincere advice to the rulers of the Muslims is: not deceiving them, enjoining what is right upon them, and forbidding them from what is wrong, if one is qualified to do so, and assisting them in good and obeying them in what is right. Giving sincere advice to the Muslims in general is: loving for them what one loves for oneself, not deceiving them in word or deed, enjoining what is right upon them and forbidding them from what is wrong, and cooperating with them in righteousness and piety, and not cooperating in sin and transgression. However, calling to the path of Allah is on varying levels: teaching the ignorant and guiding them with wisdom, and delivering the admonition that softens hearts so that hearts may become soft.
The hard hearts, and arguing with the best kind of argument for those who need it. So whoever is qualified for calling to Allah should put things in their proper places, and call every person in a manner suitable for him, and treat each person according to his status; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-A'raf 7:199] . Also, the callers to good and those who enjoin good and forbid evil are of different degrees: some are able to forbid evil with the hand, some are only able to forbid evil with the tongue, some are only able to forbid evil with the heart, and some are able to do all of it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 49a ", so the caller to Allah should know his capacity and the extent of his ability in enjoining and forbidding, and place himself in his proper position, and call to the extent that his circumstances allow, in terms of knowledge, status, and authority, and not exceed his capacity; otherwise, it would be a fitnah. And Allah is the Guide to the straight path. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

A: It is obligatory for the Muslim to enjoin good and forbid evil, and to advise every Muslim with wisdom, good admonition, and the best kind of argument. Allah the Exalted said:
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong
(104) And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful. (105) And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.
(78) Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue of David and of Jesus, the son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed. (79) They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing.

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best
Religion is sincerity (An-Nasihah).' They said: 'To whom, O Messenger of Allah?' he said: 'To Allah, to His Book, to His Messenger, to the imams of the Muslims, and to their common folk
I gave the pledge of allegiance to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) for the following: 1. offer prayers perfectly 2. pay the Zakat (obligatory charity) 3. and be sincere and true to every Muslim.
The hard hearts, and arguing with the best kind of argument for those who need it. So whoever is qualified for calling to Allah should put things in their proper places, and call every person in a manner suitable for him, and treat each person according to his status; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant.
He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith.
