Naming in the Name of Hadi

Fatwa number ( 3538 )
Q: My name is Hadi, and Al-Hadi is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Is it permissible for me to keep this name, or should I change it to another name?
A: If you keep your original name, there is no blame on you; because the term Al-Hadi is a shared name applied to Allah and to others among people who guide others to what benefits them, such as the messengers, as Allah the Exalted said:[Ar-Ra'd 13:7] , and it is known that the description of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) as Al-Hadi does not resemble the description of the created beings. If you change your name to 'Abd al-Hadi, there is nothing wrong with that religiously. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
