Naming Carter

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. (14489)
Q: First, I have been a resident in the Kingdom for ten years. Allah granted me a son
when my wife gave birth for the first time. At that time, I was in Saudi Arabia . My grandfather named him " Carter " in the country where my children reside, the Arab Republic of Egypt , in Upper Egypt. His name on his birth certificate is this name, and he entered the sixth grade with this name (Carter Abd al-Satar). If this name (Carter) is changed to another name, it will take a long time to change the name in the administrative aspects, from the Shaykh to the headman to the school to the records office. In the most accurate sense, there is a possibility of changing the name. I ask you, your Excellency, to kindly inform me: is there anything wrong with this name for my son in this world and the Hereafter? This knowledge is with Allah, then with you, so please issue a ruling for us. May Allah reward you with good.

A: It is obligatory for you to change your son's name from Carter to Abdullah or Abd al-Rahman or the like; because this is the name of a disbeliever who was once the president of the United States . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
