If one is unable to perform the 'Aqiqah, what should he do?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 1776 )
Q2: If I have been blessed with several children, and I have not performed the 'Aqiqah for any of them
due to the narrowness of my means; because I am a salaried employee, and my salary is limited and only covers the monthly expenses, what is the ruling in Islam regarding the 'Aqiqah for my children?

A2: If the situation is as you described, regarding the tightness of your financial means, and that your income is only sufficient for your own expenses and those of the people you are responsible for; then there is no blame on you for not drawing near to Allah with the 'Aqiqah for your children; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلا وُسْعَهَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
, and His saying:
and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficultyوَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ
[Al-Hajj 22:78]
, and His saying:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
, and because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
So when I command you to do anything, do it as much as it lies in your power and when I forbid you to do anything, then abandon it.إذا أمرتكم بأمر فأتوا منه ما استطعتم، وإذا نهيتكم عن شيء فاجتنبوه
Sahih Muslim 1337
, and when you become affluent, it is prescribed for you to perform it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
