Prostration of Gratitude and Prostration of Recitation for a Woman in Menstruation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The seventh question of Fatwa No. ( 6267 )
Q7: Is prostration of recitation permissible for a woman in menstruation, and likewise is the prostration of gratitude permissible for her? And if it is not permissible, is it permissible for her, upon hearing the prostration of recitation, to merely glorify Allah with her tongue?
A7: A: In the cases where recitation is permissible for her, prostration of recitation is prescribed for her if she encounters a prostration of recitation, or if she listens to one. The correct view is that it is permissible for her to recite from memory, not from the mushaf. Consequently, prostration is prescribed for her; because it is not a prayer, but rather a submission to Allah and an act of worship, similar to the types of dhikr. B: The correct view is that prostration of gratitude and prostration of recitation for a reciter or listener do not require ritual purity; because they are not in the ruling of prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
