Greeting of the Mosque and the Regular Voluntary Prayer of Fajr
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 7396 )
Q2: I entered the mosque after the Fajr adhan such that I was no longer able to pray the greeting of the mosque. Should I wait standing until the prayer is about to begin, or
should I enter directly into the greeting of the mosque and then pray with the congregation? And if the time is sufficient only for the greeting or the Fajr voluntary prayer, which is more important?
A2: If the situation is as you described, pray the Fajr sunnah, and it suffices you for the greeting of the mosque, even if the time is ample. If the iqamah for the Fajr prayer is called before you complete the Fajr sunnah, cut it off and enter with the imam in the Fajr prayer. Pray the sunnah after the prayer or after the sun rises, and the latter is better. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
