The Sunnah of Fajr after the iqamah of the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

The seventh question of the fatwa number ( 4042 )

Q7: I entered the Fajr prayer and found the congregation standing (qaimah). Should I join the congregation directly, or should I pray two rak'ahs of the Sunnah of Fajr? And when should I pray this Sunnah if I join the congregation?
A7: If a Muslim enters the mosque and the prayer has already been called for (iqamah), he should enter with them and not pray the Sunnah; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When the Iqamah has been called for the Salat then there is no Salat except the obligatory.إذا أقيمت الصلاة فلا صلاة إلا المكتوبة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 421Sahih (Darussalam)
narrated by Muslim, and if he has not prayed the Sunnah of Fajr
he makes it up after the Fajr prayer or after the sun has risen. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
