The first question of Fatwa No. ( 13652 )
Q1: Mymother asked me to repair a certain amount of silver for her, and a few days later my mother passed away, and this amount of silver remained with me. I have siblings: three males and six females, and one of these three males, my brother, has passed away, and this brother of mine has a family. What is the Islamic ruling? May Allah reward you with good.
A1: The silver your mother gave you to be repaired, which she passed away before you returned to her, becomes the property of her legal heirs, along with the rest of her estate. As for your brother’s share of the estate, if his death occurred after your mother’s death, it belongs to his legal heirs according to the Islamic rules of inheritance.
